Because we all eat, we all have an opinion of what good eating is. We can't all be right. So where do we turn for good advice on nutrition? Believe it or not, the Bible provides all the instruction we need to live healthy, abundant lives. Really!
The Bible provides very specific direction on the do's and don'ts of eating. It doesn't always tell us why, but modern science is beginning to reveal some of the why's. An especially good reference book on this topic was written in 1996 by an MD from Mississippi, Dr. Rex Russel. His book, What the Bible Says About Healthy Living offers three principles for eating:
1. Eat the foods that God created for you.
2. Don't alter God's design
3. Don't let any food or drink become your God
One practical piece of advice we can suggest: avoid as much food with a UPC code as you can.
